7月9日傍晚，法王噶瑪巴驅車前往溝帕普之西藏兒童村學校，受邀為學生們的年度文化音樂、舞蹈、運動等競賽表演的主要來賓。

溝帕普之西藏兒童村學校計有超過2000位學生就讀，課程學習從幼稚園至七年級課程，所有的學生被分配到四組競賽團隊，此四組競賽團隊以古西藏國王的名子命名，分別為聶赤贊普、赤松德贊、赤熱巴堅、松贊甘波。學校特別為此四組競賽團隊舉行學生文化活動的競賽表演。此文化活動表演主要為慶祝尊者達賴喇嘛的生日而舉行。

在表演與頒獎之前法王噶瑪巴受邀為學校新建的佛塔開光。

學生們穿上傳統西藏傳統服飾全力演出，呈現精彩的歌舞表演贏得全體來賓的熱列掌聲。法王噶瑪巴也為贏得本年度學生文化活動比賽第一名的 「赤熱巴堅」團隊頒發獎品。

隨後法王噶瑪巴特別給予全校師生演說。法王開示維護與傳承西藏傳統文化的重要性，因為這是生活在世界上身為西藏人的特殊標記。

法王噶瑪巴於晚上十點驅車返回上密院住所。

On the evening of July 9th, His Holiness was invited as chief guest for the academic competition of Tibetan Children’s Village school (TCV) of Gopalpur, including cultural song and dance. Over 2000 students attend the school in classes from nursery to 12th grade. The students are divided into four houses for the competition of school activities, The houses are named for the ancient Tibetan kings, namely Nyatri, Trisong, Triral, and Songtsen House. This cultural competition commemorated His Holiness Dalai Lama’s birthday.

Prior to the competition His Holiness was requested to consecrate the newly built stupa at the school. Competition was strong, students presented the songs with wonderful Tibetan traditional dresses and way of life, and displayed some rare dances. His Holiness gave away the prizes for the winning houses, with Triral House the winner of the competition for this year. His Holiness gave speech to the students mentioning the importance of our culture and tradition which is the distinctive mark one makes on this world by being a Tibetan. – Tashi Paljor
