He said that the Tibet issue is not simply a political one but something that transcends politics since it is the third pole and the source for freshwater for the rest of mainland Asia. Whatever happens in Tibet therefore will greatly affect India and the other downstream countries.
法王指出，西藏高地的環保問題不是單純的政治問題，而是一項超越政治與國界的問題；因為素有「第三極」(南極、北極是二極)之稱的西藏高地，是亞洲大陸淨水的發源地。西藏高地所產生的任何環境生態問題，都會對印度以及其河川下游的國家產生重大的影響。

Picking up this same theme, he reminded Tibetans in Tibet to follow what His Holiness the Dalai Lama had said regarding the use of wildlife products and the need to conserve nature and develop compassion for all living beings including endangered species.
